How safe are your passwords? Is there a trick to create a secure password?

We use different password for different accounts. For example our bank passwords are different from our e-mail passwords and our e mail passwords are different from our social networking sites passwords. So, do we ever ponder as to how secure they are? Well, If they are not secure then is there a trick to making them? We will tell you simple tricks to secure your password.

How are passwords exposed

Before we go on and tell you about how to secure your passcode. You should be aware of how can they be compromised. Out of the many we have assembled a few of how your security passcodes are exposed:
Someone is out to get you: There are many people who would like to peek into your personal life. If they know you too well then chances of your password security getting compromised are pretty high.
You become the victim of a brute force attack: Whether a hacker attempts to access a group of user accounts or just yours, brute-force attacks are the go-to strategy for cracking passwords. These attacks work by systematically checking all possible passphrases until the correct one is found. If the hacker already has an idea of the guidelines used to create the password, this process becomes easier to execute.
There is a data breach: Every few weeks a company’s data being breached thereby exposing millions of people account information.

How can you create a secure password

Although, you cannot do anything about the data breaches but it is still imperative to create a password that is hard to crack. Here are a few tricks that will help-:
  1. Your passcode should be ideally of 16 characters. The longer the password the harder it is to crack.
  2. Use letter, symbols, spaces etc to make your password complex.
  3. Your password should be free from repetitivedictionary words, your family members names etc. You should try choosing a password devoid of such things. Because there is a chance that you might have used these names or numbers on your social networking sites.
  4. Create a jumbled up password. For example choose a sentence that you can easily remember like “I hope Manchester United wins The Premier League in 2017!”. Take the initials of the sentence and form a password. So your password phrase would result like “IhMUwTPLi2017!”. Creating this type of password will be more secure and will be difficult to hack.
  5. Use a password generator which comes in the offline programs and websites. Microsoft offers it’s own online strength checker, and promises that the form is completely secure. Mac users can use the built in Password Assistant to check their password’s security.
  6. Enable Two Step Verification whenever a service like gmail or facebook or whatsapp offers it. So, whenever a hacker will try and access your account you will get a message straight to your phone about a login attempt.
  7. Use Password Managers. Password managers store all of your passwords for you and fill out your log-in forms so that you don’t have to do any memorizing.
